Overview of IoT

Internet of Things (IoT) can be easily understood as a network of physical devices interconnected to each other so that they can communicate and take the decision on their own and can be controlled and accessed through the internet. These devices can be remotely monitored and controlled. The true power of IoT is that the devices can take decisions on their own on the basis of their learning and understanding of the surroundings.

For e.g.

1. Refrigerators with internet connectivity, sensors, etc. embedded in it.

2. Ac’s with internet connectivity, sensors, controlling with software applications. etc. embedded in it.

Why IoT?

IoT systems are smart systems. They enable the devices/ objects to observe, identify and understand the situation/ surroundings without being dependent on humans.
The IoT devices can take the decisions by their own on the basis of the understanding of the situation and also decreases the human efforts.

How IoT Works?

In IoT systems, devices/ objects with embedded sensors are connected to a cloud service or platform, which collects the data from all the devices connected, integrates it and applies analytics to share most valuable information with applications to address specific needs.

IoT platforms can filter exactly what information is useful and what can be ignored. This information can be used to detect patterns, make recommendations, and detect possible problems before they occur.

Areas Of Application

Almost every industry is using IoT in their systems to increase efficiency and production, also it reduces human involvement by making processes automated.
Few of the examples are,

How Rinnegan is contributing in IoT Ecosystem?

We are building an IoT Platform that IoT developers & businesses can use to make their IoT solution interoperable, secure and decrease the development, deployment and maintenance cost of their system. This means that IoT developers and businesses can spend more time and money on developing innovative and efficient systems and save up to 80% of their time and cost.

Advantages of IoT
1. Provides Security:

In the system, in which all the things are interconnected then we can make such systems more secure as compare to the systems in which the things are not interconnected.

2. Reduced Human Efforts:

IoT systems reduce human efforts. As the IoT devices can interact and communicate with each other and can do a lot of work for us, by this they reduce human efforts.

3. Time-Saving:

As the IoT systems reduce the human effort than by doing so it also saves time. Time is the primary factor that can save through IoT systems.

4. Efficient Resource Utilization:

Through IoT systems, we can monitor the usage of the resources and can use them more efficiently. By efficient utilization of resources, we can also decrease the cost.

Disadvantages/Challenges in IoT:
1. Security:

Security is the biggest challenge of the IoT. As in IoT systems, the devices are interconnected and communicates over the network, they are more prone to network attacks.

2. Privacy:

Privacy is another big issue in IoT. Even without the active participation of the user, the IoT systems provide substantial personal data in detail.

3. Complexity:

The designing, developing and maintaining the IoT systems are quite complicated.

4. Interoperability

In IoT, Interoperability is one of the biggest challenge. Interoperability is the ability for systems, devices or components of systems to communicate with each other, regardless of their manufacturer or technical specifications
